The encouraging part is that even in his hometown, people are getting suspicious enough of his actions to want to hear another side. I talked to people in that part of the country. They loved his ass as governer, but some were wondering a year ago when I was there what the hell he was doing with the military. That's a strong section of the country for military service. Not much for a boy to do for schooling without the GI Bill (which is so gutted now; thanks, George!), so recruiters have a field day. The parents are getting 'concerned'. I hope it's enough.

GI Bill isn't that bad...

GI bill is a wonderful thing. I never meant to imply it's not. What's happening to the GI Bill and other post-service benefits is terrible. The benefits that were signed up for 4-6 years ago under contract are now gutted to do little or no good for our Vets. That's not a good way to reward people who risked their lives for your ego. Bad Rummy. Bad George.

I joined the canoe clue in 79, and missed the good GI bill by a year and a half... they were in the process of putting one together... but it was sad... I put money into it and they MIGHT have money for me to go to school later. It is now set up so that if the individual does not go to school within x # of years after he/she gets out of the military all of the money put they put into the GI bill is sucked up and gone. My x BF waited too long after he got out of the canoe club in 95 and he lost his GI Bill.
