It's obvious that not only does light move faster now than it did in the distant past, it's speed varies considerably during the course of the day.
2 billion years ago most life was confined to the ocean. The earth and the rest of the universe were filled with dumb things like trilobytes, squids and Texans.
As the speed of light increased so did the electrical activity in their simple nervous systems. This encouraged the neurons to evolve into brains and stuff until now billions of years later we can have nuclear weapons and internet porn.
This process repeats itself every day. In the early morning hours the speed of light is slow. Our brains are sluggish. It's obvious that the constant that determines the speed of light is dependant upon the total amount of coffee consumed in the universe because after a pot of coffee our neurons are chugging right along.
Paradoxically the speed of light also seems to increase after dark because that's party time.
