From what I gathered in that article, it looks like we're only demonstrating our ability to stretch our military across the world, if necessary. Not even once were China or Hong Kong mentioned in that article. Where'd you read that?

Well, if a major, 'ww 3' type war ever broke out it would most likely involve us and China first, then slowly pull in surrounding countries until we all roast in a nice, toasty-warm nuclear fire.

Of course seven carriers in one strike force is not unprecedented. During WWII, in the Pacific, there were, on at least one occasion, nine carriers in a strike force. True, a force such as this has not been seen in 60 years, and has not been seen in peacetime. But, alas, we are not at peace, are we?

As long as we're jumping to unfounded conclusions, keep in mind that the fleet is also in proximity of North Korea and the Phillipines, both of which have become areas of instability in need of a military presence to lend creedence to our 'advice'.

I myself find this whole weight throwing pretty unsettling. The Unprecendented nature of this is the fact that we're sending 7 carrier battle groups over there in peace time. I saw an article last week about China gearing up for a takeover of Taiwan, of course this has been going on for a minute, but eventually China is going to want that rich little island and this Summer Pulse shit and our being over there is fulfulling an 'obligation' that we have to our 'friends' over there. It could mean a volatile situation especially since Bush has pretty much stated that there are other countries we're going to stick our noses into, noses which may get bloodied.
