I don't think I ever hear anything good about corn these days.
Corn subsidies also make high fructose corn syrup cheaper than sugar, thus causing industry to manically put a less healthful substance in all of our processed drinks.
I'm not sure if the idea of the subsidy is the problem so much as the government investing in the wrong things.
Really, what would happen if we took all of our corn subsidies and put them into fusion, anti-matter or solar research?

I'm currently listening to the book on CD version of 'Omnivore's Dilemma' during my commute. It is pretty eye opening about Corn and what we eat and where it comes from in general. I recommend it to anyone interested in the subject.
