Awwww.....saw him at Laural Music (North Seattle) in the late 70s for a Drum Seminar. He sat there by himself with a couple of store clerks for the best part of an hour while I played guitars I couldn't afford and a got handful of picks to go with a set of Fender Bullets. I could've talked to him if I'd wanted to; no one else was around. Didn't appreciate him for the rarity until after when I saw how many of my records had his name. Another chance to touch greatness lost to the shortsightedness of new guitar strings and the cold beer waiting at home.
At least he didn't sell 'Learn It Yourself' books like Buddy Rich.
