Nocal,
Admittedly, Boston's second crack at topping their Freshman work was just plain sad (Third stage).. and completely out of time after nearly a decade of radio silence. Their first two albums for their time were somewhat groundbreaking and pretty damn good, but they did herald the beginning of overworked studio albums, and not good as in a Sgt Peppers kinda way. To be fair and not just defending my generation's music, I believe that Boston's music will live far past most output from the 80's, 90's, and so far this decade. This is a sweeping generalization and I'm not that big of a fan, nor a music guru, its just my guy feeling about the quality of their work.
