well i think he makes a good point on the one hand. any able-bodied dude with no felony convictions can get his shit together (and in a lot of cases, probably even with a conviction). that's a pretty good point, i think.
but movers make ok money. nickel and dimed was about people who were mostly working for minimum wage; typically these were people working for those 'molly maid' type services.
i had some friends in high school who worked for a moving company, and they made $20 an hour. so if you're able to do something like that, you really have no excuse (although he didn't appear to have debt, child support or children). however, if you can't get hired by a moving company (or an equivalent decent paying job) you are going to be in a bit of trouble. minimum wage just doesn't cut it in most places, even if you work two full time jobs.
additionally, the vast majority of people who are homeless are temporarily homeless, so that point doesn't really need to be made.
