Occasionally the list format is used well, but it seems much more often an easy way to get traffic by compiling some bullet points without having to add any new material.
In any case, whatever the intent of the list compiler, the real crux is: will it generate any discussion here, or will it be an easily-digested little snippet of pap that will make absolutely no impression on our little piece of the universe? That's the calculus I've been keeping in mind lately and it feels like gold.
