Lethal injection is so simple & straight forward I don’t see how it can be messed up, unless someone does it on purpose. With a good tourniquet, it’s pretty hard not to be able to find a vein somewhere (If I could find them in a cancer patient, how can they miss?) …. Someone needs to convince me that the gas chamber or 'old sparky' is any more 'humane' than lethal injection....
The question of “cruel and unusual punishment” also raises an interesting ethical dichotomy…how is torturing and killing someone not cruel and unusual? Why should a convicted murderer be treated in a more humane manner than their victim was?
I say we go back to the guillotine!
