Clearly, the tazer is a useful precursor to the use of deadly force. However, it appears headed towards becoming 'an easy way out' of confrontations that, years ago, might have required a bit more diplomacy, tact, or use of other forms of physical restraint.
We know tazers can kill, and do kill, often enough that they should require a bit more justification than a raised voice to be used on someone. With the ease involved in using a tazer, this tool can become a way for police to go Rodney King on people in a 'civil' and less openly horrifying manner. High tech lynching indeed!
