This guy's a part-time cop. That means he's a full-time hero. He doesn't have to answer to you or me or God or the courts or civilization or anyone else.

The newspaper headline here is that it was a crime of passion, as if we needed to be told cops have a passion for shooting people.

I'm gonna have to agree with bigdinwhatakee. The headline here is just a tad misleading.

When I read that shit I was like, wait wut?!?!?! The world done gone crazy, cause I have not seen any riots or nothin. I would expect riots a la Rodney King, if a cop killed six kids, shit I'd join that riot.

THEN, I read the article, and I was totally relieved. The dude wasn't even a real cop, he's a deputy sheriff, AND HE WAS OFF DUTY!!! Still a sad story, but not I'm not outraged, just feel sorry for the victims families.

The title should read, 'some retard gave a total psycho a big ass gun and a badge, wackjob kills six'.

BTW: When a cop goes off duty, they are still a cop--and this little tragedy seems to suggest that their sanctimonious sense of entitlement to violence doesn't go off duty.

Also, know your enemy. ALL of those guys you see riding around in Sheriff's cars are deputy sheriffs; the 'real cop' is the one who gets elected to Sheriff--his fake cop deputies can still be pigs.

Yes, he technically was a law enforcement officer, yes he killed 6 people in a blaze of glory.

But when the other cops learned who he was they still didn't hesitate to put him down, a favt that I find significant. Now if the story had been that they took him into custody alive and they were now developing his defense, I think there could be some legitimate cop hating here. Otherwise, it's a stretch. A stretch I am sure some of you are willing to make because you just want to hate cops and no amount of convincing will change your minds.

This really has nothing to do with a crazed cop, albeit he was a law-enforcement officer. This has to do with an adolescent that had designs on revenging a wrong. One of the appropriate questions should concern if this boy was properly psych screened to become a deputy or if he was mature enough for his position of power. Also, this is a small, backwoods community in WI, so their standards and processes aren't as evolved as larger communities or even some smaller towns in other states.
