I'm always amused by how the global warming church considers data that reveals rising temperatures, to be evidence that their assertions regarding Global Warming (TM) are valid--and they also consider data that reveals falling temperatures to be evidence that their assertions regarding Global Warming (TM) are valid. I've heard one the believers actually say, 'Global warming causes global cooling.'

Couldn't it? Weather is rather complex.

What might a rational person conclude to be the net result from global cooling resulting from global warming?

It really appears that the issue is not so much warming or cooling, but rather changes; changes in the weather, changes in technology, and the hope that a change in politics will put these change haters in a place where they can ban change.

it depends. does the cooling exactly match the warming?

exaggerated climate variations. the 'warming' is really misleading and is only speaking to the average of the entire planet. extra hot summers and slightly less extreme extra cold winters - planet-wide - would classify as warming. this has nothing specifically to do with localized heat waves/cold spells by themselves even though they may contribute.

p.s. you never sourced the .0012% CO2 total contribution that human beings make to the planet's atmosphere, and i'm genuinely interested in the source.

I assume this is to do less of an ozone layer to keep heat in, in some sort of ironic paradox or something, but that's just what I've been told.

It doesn't matter if humans only contribute 3% of CO2. It doesn't really matter if we're causing global warming or not. We should be looking at renewable energy resources for many reasons, political as well as environmental. I think that's an idiotic characterization to call the global warming church 'change haters'. If anything I think the movement wants to create change, at least in the form of creating less waste, and getting the world weened off of oil. I do think the movement has become 'churchy' as of late, which is creating some bad science, and could lead to bad policy. Either way, the politics of oil sucks, and pollution sucks, so I think it's good to move away from both of those things if technologically possible.

Change haters... that's the modern republican party that is completely devoid of progressive values. I think peter from Family Guy said it best: 'Hey look! The two symbols of the Republican Party: An elephant and a big, fat white guy who's scared of change'
