Hahaha, I think the woot factor from canuck beer is mostly us parroting what Americans have said about our suds and beating our chests about it. Also, a lot of border dwelling Americans hopped up north as youngsters and took advantage of the early legal drinking age and barfed into snobanks.
I also think that this hearkens way back to when US domestic used to hover around the 3.5% mark while ours was aboot 5%, giving a little extra push towards pukedom. Also, our breweries used to be smaller and distribution more local, I remember when Keith's IPA use to actually be IPA and only available on the east coast.
As I have been constantly reminded, 90% of our current conglomerate produced beer is wet air. There are still holdouts that make good shit, good beer is where you find it and when it comes to regional beer, blue state craft brews seem to rock the fuck out.
I am still waiting for an apology for unleashing Budweiser/Coors on the world.
