Hmm...I doubt it 'll work, but it's alovely thought.
Unfortunately, 'news' in the US is primarily entertainment.
There'd have to be a grassroots effort to reform ALL the news outlets.
What I learned, in grade 9, was that the newsmedia, in a democracy, is SUPPOSED to be a watchdog, that barks like hell when the gov't. of that democracy does dirty deeds.
In the US, FOX and the Sinclair networks are the pro-gov't. news outlets, the Pravda wannabes, and the other networks CBS,ABC,NBC,CNN,sort of follow along like reluctant children ('Oooookaaaaayyyy. We wiiiill, but we're not happy about it.' ), but doing what they're told to do, by conservative corporate owners.
Also, money's a powerful lure, and the Whitehouse can get any amount that's needed, to buy any story they wanna.
The internet is the new Fifth Estate. Unfortunately, not as many people have the internet as they do TV's.
This is a good scratch on the surface, like keying the paint on a car, but it's still gonna run just fine.
