The American way of life needs oil. Iraq has it, and Saddam threatened the American economic advantage of printing petrodollars by demanding Euros for Iraq's sanctioned trades. That's a sin.
Military intervention was needed to reverse that development, (and disrupt Irans oil bourse) or else other countries would have divested themselves of some portion of the dollars they hold and diversify their foreign currency accounts to take advantage of the instant petroeuro market. The inflation from the resulting dollar dump alone is unthinkable.
So, look, it's shitty that you have to pacify a democratic majority over there but it's better than you having to sneak into Canada to work picking fruit and bailing hay, right?
