'Computer 'science' ' , on the other hand IS mainstream (name 5 people you know without a computer. I can name three.)
Technology as practical science, in all of its guises, from your toaster to your car, to the laptop you scurry off to pornsites with, to the phone , etc. blah blah blah, is rampant.
As long as science offers convenience, it's amiably relevant, when you gotta think about it, or deal with it, it's suddenly Cthulu calibre demonic.
Science as thoughtlessness.
