Yeah, I wonder how this will turn out. The US is notorious for mangling good foreign films(See La Femme Nikita, La Cage Aux Folies, or Priscilla: Queen of the Desert). I have even less hope for this adaptation...they should just leave J-horror alone, as the Japanese are far more imaginative and twisted than hollywood will ever be.

They redid Priscilla Queen of the Desert? Why? It was in English, for christ's sake. Or is there just that much demand for it that they wanted two?

There wasn't a direct "americanized" version of Priscilla. The movie released afterwards in the US was "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar" Which in plot and substance was more a rip-off of the australian flick.
