Mundhra: You are correct. I had placed the asshat moniker on the wrong person. The actual asshat title should have gone to those who made the decision to dump the story.

As for the update, I don't know if Rose made the right decision or not. I'm sure this opens Digg up to some legal ramifications. If so, will the raging masses who openly weeped over the story dump, step up and help fund the defense? More than likely, the answer is no, but I am just speculating.

i'd certainly be worried. the problem is, you know, people keep submitting it. digg's model doesn't lend itself to censorship very well if you consider tidal waves coming in. what do you do under those circumstances, shut the site down?

why couldn't digg just have waited for the takedown notices? now, they look like they know they shouldn't have that stuff up but do anyway. furthermore, they now have shittons of stories floating around instead of two, three, or even a dozen.

Digg just proved that they have no balls with which to deal with their viewers. Next time, when a bigger issue arises, they won't be able to do anything, because they already proved they're just going to roll over and take it in the butt.

i'm curious as to how this is going to play out vs decss. decss was a process (instructions) for decryption, while this is just a number.
