Nice to see this bold move which indirectly gives the big 'fuck off' to those afraid to openly talk, let alone proudly represent, the spectre of death, illness, and atypical beauty in our society. Unfortunately, this minor decision is viewed as a bold move, indicative of a shallow society.
Perhaps this may be the first step in a sea change, since a good percentage of our society will be facing similar realities in the next two decades. Maybe not disfigured, but definitely ill and ugly.
Too bad his good friend, Gene Siskel, isn't around to support his good friend's decision.
