Not a bad story, but isn't this rather self evident to anyone who regularly buys groceries? In other words, 95% of all of us?
Ag policy is rather fucked up in this country. It is a 100 year old kludge of farm and corporate special interests which in the past was mixed with security needs as well. Why do we use so much corn syrup in this country versus cane sugar? Well, why not ask farmers and ADM? Just another form of welfare. There are security reasons for certain ag policies, but what's out there now is beyond that and could use some serious market reforms. And, don't expect whole foods to get cheaper now that we're, insanely, hell bent on using them to power our transportation needs.
