The thing about sit-ups just pisses me off, because they claim it hurts your neck -- then they also recommend you put your hands behind your head to do bicycle-crunches.

Listen: only a complete fucking moron actually grabs their had and pulls, and yanks themselves up that way.

If you're still doing it while you do crunches, it's just going to take longer to hurt you.

But it's not the exercise that's hurting you, it's your own dumb ass, and you deserve what you get.

Leg extensions may be the reason my knees were mysteriously fucked for a couple years of track. When I stopped, my knees went back to normal.

These exercises are all basically useless and I cringe when I see people doing them in the gym, especially the behind the neck pull downs.

I only partially agree with this.
I mainly agree with avoiding military (behind the head) press as I know of injuries that have occurred. Most of these exercises can be done safely and be effective. Problems occur when (mainly men) try and lift/push too much weight and allow the correct form to be lost. This is what I see most of at the gym- cheating and terrible form. For example- I see people doing the alternative to lat pull-downs of pulling the bar down in front of them... firstly this is now working the rhomboids as much as the lats and also adding much more stress on the back for no gain- the more weight the more chance of injury.

That's funny to me, nocal, because my knees feel best when I'm doing leg extensions regularly, and this is after having twisted my right knee almost to the point of snapping my ligaments.

I agree with bagoblood, though -- the guys who are using too much weight when they lift shit, and bend forward until the weight is all the way up, then bend forward again to let it down -- looks like a chiken pecking -- are complete idiots. Priceless is the look on their faces when I lift twice as much as them without jerking around like I have parkinsons.
