You don't have to supply your SSN for a credit card or loan. Its not LAW per se, as you can see from the link.
If you want, you can get always get a secured CC from your local bank and insist that your name and address is all they NEED and ask for a manager eventually. Tell them that you are backing this card with your own money so there is no reason to need an SSN. If you are persuasive enough without pissing anyone off you can get the card. Use the card. Pay it off every month and pay it early. You will be building a new credit record for yourself because the credit reporting agencies won't have your SSN just the name that you supply (hopefully a varient of the name that the credit reporting agencies already have or you just fuxed yourself). Eventually after using the secured card and being a credit !!superstar!! the bank will offer you an unsecured line of credit (ie credit card) probably with a small limit at first. Keep being a credit superstar with this card and you can get housing loans with great lending rates. All you have to do is supply your name and the default SSN '999-99-9999' and your sparkling clean credit report will pop up.
I see, so if you are an illegal, it is easy to get the SSN-free card, if you are law-abiding, you need to be 'persuasive enough without pissing anyone off'.
