| | | | | | | haha, word. so fucking classic. *cubetear*
on topic: sadly, i don't think there's much that they can hit rove with.
| | | | | | | It's not like anything's gonna come of it, 'cept a lot of folks saying 'Fuuuuuck! Those guys suck!' (at both the good guys and the bad guys)
What used to be 'justice' concerning this group of denizens in the Whitehouse has been pretty much suspended.
| | | | | | | You're wrong - something has already come of it. This is a high profile case that's been in the news every day of the trial. Whether Libby is found guilty or not, the facts of the case expose the seedy side of Bushco to the public. That in itself makes it worthwhile, even if it is just a side-effect.
The day before this news, someone was arguing to me that Fitzgerald was on a witch hunt, since he knew Armitage was the leaker but continued his investigation anyway. I pointed out to him that fact didn't mean there was not more thatn one leaker. Now I get to say told ya so.

| | | | | | | PS thanks for jumping on board the 'its not like anything matters' wagon of political dissent. It takes some real balls. | | | |
| | | | | | | if Libby is convicted where does that leave the administration? will it serve as damage control or will it lead to further indictments? all relevant comments are appreciated excepting those from jwalker | | | |
| | | | | | | This is a non-event. Much like Clinton and his fat girl blowjobs. | | | |
| | | | | | | ^ except that the alligations are a crime against the U.S. public, rather than an arbitrary judgment of two individuals' private sexual escapades. Other than that - yes it's exactly the same.
And screw you, sugarslim.
| | | | | | | Clinton got in trouble for lying under oath. Had he just told the truth from the beginning, there would have been no case. | | | |
| | | | | | | This is also an investigation about perjury, not doubt about that. And on the facts, it looks to me like the prosecution has the advantage.
'Let's add it up, nine conversations about Mr. Wilson's wife,' Zeidenberg said. 'He remembers none of them. The one conversation he says he has, with Tim Russert, is a conversation we now know never happened.'
In his grand jury testimony, Libby didn't say 'he probably or likely learned ' about Plame from Russert, 'he was unequivocal,' Zeidenberg said.'
Russert's testimony blew a big hole in Libby's defense. It looks like he lied. Lots of info revealed in the trial hint at Rove and Cheney's affair in the whole thing, but it seems unlikely that they could be prosecuted for it. The public relations hit the Bush admin will take if Libby gets hit shouldn't be ignored though. The plame affair is a dirty dirty affair especially with an administration thats been so rabidly against leaks- the ones they didn't like. But Libby will be pardoned before Bush leaves office if he's convicted. That seems almost certain. Overall significance? With more Duke Cunningham-related indictments on the way and congressional investigations...its one more hole in a sinking ship.

| | | | | | | Just so I'm completely up to speed on the rules here: It's ok when Bill Clinton lies under oath, since it was only about blowjobs. But Libby needs to hang for lying under oath because he alledgedly outed a CIA contractor (since no one other than the Deputy Director actually works for CIA).
I'm sorry, I guess I missed that day when they talked about the degrees of perjury.
Acheron is absolutely correct in his assertion that Libby will be pardoned should be find himself convicted. I say again for possible penetration: This is a non-event.
| | | | | | | wrecker: Show me where anyone said it's okay for anyone to lie to a grand jury investigation. Nobody said that. The issue at hand here is the reasons why the investigation was conducted in the first place.
The big picture here is that there was a coordinated effort in the Bush administration to cover up one of their lies for invading Iraq. That underscores the fact that they knew they were lying - to you, to me, and to all the world - to justify a preemptive attack on a country that was not a threat. Now look where we are.
Can you honestly say that is the same caliber as the Clinton affair? Get real, man.
OTOH, I would agree with you if you were saying this is a hollow victory - Cheney, Rove, and others should be hung too.

| Sexual Asspussy | This is awesome.
This is the first pornsite I've found in years that I'd actually advertise to swarmers. When you first load it up, it looks just like every crappy scam site out there, except that it's real. It's huge, it's updated constantly, there's no spam, no popups, and no bullshit -- and it's completely free. When you sign up through that link above and respond to the confirmation email, I make a bit of loose change.
See what other swarmers have to say about it. People love this place, so I feel fine about sending you there and am confident you will enjoy boners.
