Not to defend the extreme overreaction of the Mayor of Boston and the Governor, but while all this was going on, there were two fake pipebombs found at one of the hospitals. That incident was completely unrelated to this Keystone Kopish debaucle.

In fact, at first I don't think the authorities overreacted at all. That is until the local media got ahold of it and just went completely apeshit.

Yeah, this would have been fists in the air twenty years ago, but they attached unauthorized electronic devices on public city infrastructure. How's that going to be seen in the current climate?

If by being all clowny-clown-clown in their 15 minutes, they sort of toss a glass of cold water on the breathless self-inspection of DHS, then they'll have done some good. Well, since it took three weeks for anyone to freak and even then there was only madness in one out of ten cities... I think the reaction was uncalled for. ESPECIALLY since these had been up for three weeks prior to the mass hysteria.
