Apparently you can fuck those machines up with a cellphone if you've got the relevant smarts.
It's harder to do that with pencil and paper ballots.

(Um, not to mention, in my state, Minnesota, we have a paper and pen ballot that is read electronically and tabulated from there. Still a speedy count, and you have a real paper ballot trail).

There's no reason we couldn or shouldn't use electronic voting machines. The problem is that our goverment that is supposed to be managing the effort has shit for brains. It is inconscionable to allow a company to claim intellecutal property rights to the source code and not allow it to be inspected.
