| | | That's a real hero. He died to save his buddies. I have enormous respect for this guy and what he did. | | | |
| |
| | | In a way, I can see this as being more instinctual than intellectual. I can see him thinking 'WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING' as he is jumping on a bomb.
| | | |
| |
| | | instinctive action rather than calculated
doesn't change the end result guy's a hero, but how the fuck did the enemy get close enough to a sniper hideout to lob a grenade?
i went to and arms fair in 2002 and saw sniper rifles that have an accurate range of 1.5 km
| |
| | | Aw, this guy's a showoff. | | | |
| |
| | | if your comment is directed at me a bit of back ground for you.
the fair was originally called army live fire and was a trade exhibit i was invited to.
it was originally intended to replace the royal tournament, as the uk's prime forces recruitment gala.
as one of the civilian trade stands it was shocking to find out that in the main marquee military bigwigs and arms companies were haggling over the price of hand grenades.
if not then apologies,
you lot have me feeling paranoid :D
| |
| | | Your raking in the points here, Andy. | | | |
| |
| | | i just read it back and i do sound like a prick
let the flaming commence
| | | |
| |
| | | I was also wondering just what the fuck those guys were doing to let the enemy get close enough to lob a grenade through the door. No wonder US casualties are so high. ( Not to take anything away from this guys actions to save his comrades, but he should not have had to do it in the first place). | | | |
| |
| | | Let the enemy get so close ?
These dudes are in a place that's all enemy everywhere.
Welcome to urban warefare, gentlemen.
| |
| | | Ghost, I can personally guarantee that human beings have no instinct to jump on hand grenades. | | | |
| |
| | | Good thing the politicos are bombing them irakis into democracy!
Poor fucker didn't have to to do this, there was no north korean enemy there--to be honest it's a waste of a brave soldier sacrificing everything for a fucked up cause.
politics kills. | | | |

Sorry Azron, with all due respect, I have to disagree. I stepped between a toddler and a grizzly bear once in Alaska while fishing on the Kenai river. Instict can be a motherfucker for some folks.
| | | |
| |
| | | That seems kind of rude. What, you can't get your own goddamn toddler? | | | |
| |
| | | They are few and far between. damned If I was gonna let Ben get all the action. | | | |
| |
| | | Crossed communication.
I meant that people don't instinctivly jump on grenades. If we did they'd work a lot better than they do.
But I agree that there is something, an instinct if you like, that short circuits the fight or flight reflex and compels people to do insane things to save other peoples lives.
I don't think it in any way diminishes the altruism and heroism of the act.
| |
| | | Does he go to hell for killing hiself? | | | |
| |
| |
| |
| | | Good question, fellow Christain and American. Of course he went to hell! The LORD is very specific about not killing oneself in the Bible. | | | |
| |
| | | he just wanted to save his buddies..period..'No greater love...etc.........if there's a heaven he's royalty there | | | |
