Anyone think this could be an excuse to cover up for incredibly low demand among middle-class consumers who see the PS3 as a unnecessary expense?

Also the cheap (499) PS3 doesn't have hdmi, 'which means if HDCP is enforced on Blu-ray or HD DVD Discs you would only be able to watch the movie in DVD quality.'
