| | | Thats pretty sweet.
Rednecks around the world are making their wedding ring as we speak.
| |
| | | I don't get step 1. How are you supposed to beat a coin partially flat using a spoon? | | | |
| |
| | | The steel spoon is harder than the silver. It takes a real long time. Expect to waste a few days.
A heavy hammer would mash the coin out of round so you need a light tool and several thousand taps.
| |
| | | I saw this last week while I was on vacation. I was bored so I gave it a try.
You need tiny girl hands to wear it.
I used an ordinary claw hammer instead of a spoon.
| | | |
| |
| | | I would like to commend you on your exceedingly diligent finger hygiene. | | | |
| |
| | | Isn't defacing God's Chosen Country's currency both illegal and immoral? | | | |
| |
| | | Guess you could use it as a C ring then | | | |
| |
| | | I did it recently with a 1971 dollar, which is made out of copper. The pics are on my camera, so when I feel like getting them, I will.
I used a spoon, that pissed me off. I then used the side of a ratchet. That pissed me off too, so I used a regular hammer and beat the shit out of it. It looks great, except I don't feel like ever wearing it, so I haven't drilled out the 3/4' hole yet.
The key is to beat it on a steel block.
| |
| | | hmm, so could i do this with a US quarter?
too bad I don't have a drill.
| |
| | | Use your incisive wit to cut the hole, while daring yourself not to chub. | | | |
| |
| | | uart: you fucking retard. the link's coin WAS a US quarter. Moronic SFW-fantasizer. | | | |
| |
| | | ^ fuk! my bad; looked like a quarter at first glance. uart's still a fuking retard SFW-fantasizer, tho. | | | |
| |
| | | you go girlfriend!!! Does this mean you're declaring Internet-war on me???
I dare you not to chub! | | | |
| |
| | | I just finished a ring out of a quarter. I used the side of hammer as the base and a steel utility bar to hammer with. That seems backwards, I know, but I had more control over the steel bar when flattening the edge.
A quarter has a copper core that is silver plated, so the ring has a copper stripe that runs down the middle. I'll post pics if requested.
From the best I can tell, a quarter will make a women's size ring and a fifty cent piece will make a men's size ring.
Oh yeah, Idiot-Stick (AKA Sunny), that is Kennedy Fifty Cent piece. I wouldn't expect a fuking retard like you to recognize that since it isn't Confederate currency.

THE VICTIM
THE HAMMERING PROCESS
FINISHED PRODUCT
THE COPPER EDGE
THE ONLY FINGER I CAN FIT IT ON
| | | |
| |
| | | This was my first attempt so it kinda looks like crap. I am working on another one. Sorry I don't have pics of the drilling process since that was actually the hardest part.
A few important things to note:
1) Copper transmits heat like a motherfucker. When drilling and dremeling out the hole, wear leather gloves so you don't burn the shit out of yourself.
2) Notice that in the link, the guy has tape wrapped around the pliers. I didn't do this initially and scarred the edge up pretty good. I was able to smooth them out but it was a pain.
3) When drilling the hole make sure you find the center of the coin and tap it first. This will make the dremeling part easier.

| |
| | | thanks I don't know if I will ever try this myself, but its definitely sort of cool. I mean, its a $0.25 ring with a lot more 'Neato-factor' than the grocery-store-vending-machine variety. | | | |
