It seems to be pretty common. As some of you know, I was a medic in the U.S. Army. I treated guys for this kind of stuff all the time. On my first field exercise, this red-headed kid who must have just barely passed the height requirement for enlistment came to me complaining of asspain. My first reaction was 'Sorry 'bout yer luck', but I didn't have the option of sending him off to the aidstation without front-line treatment. He dropped his drawers, and I found myself staring at the largest boil I'd ever seen just south of the very top of his freckled asscrack. It was easily half the size of my fist. I first made him wash his nasty ass (we'd been in the field 2 weeks with only 1 shower at this point), then I lanced it, without local anesthesia. I used a 12gauge needle, and filled 3 or 4 syringes with the 'frosting'. He screamed like a woman the entire time, sort of bent over the front of a Hummer, in kind of a copstyle frisk position. I packed it with gauze, applied a sterile dressing, and sent him on his way, warning him that if he didn't take care of himself this sort of thing would be a weekly ritual until he got fuking blood poisoning or someshit.
