The US hasn't been shipping Apaches and M-16's to Israel for 2000 years. Or covertly supplying them with nuclear technology and perhaps weapons. If this escalates further and Syria, Iran or Egypt gets dragged in we're facing a war that surpasses the scope of anything in recent memory. What if Pakistan enters? Its been in danger of destabilizing because of Islamists for a long time. A Islamist revolution is possible, and then we could really be talking about nuclear war. Of course this whole thing may just be defused in a week or two, but its got scarier possibilities than anything I can recently recall. Not paying attention and caring about where this thing is going seems unthinkable. For those for whom the lives of massacred innocent civilians are not enough to merit concern, try caring about this conflict for oil prices and their economic consequences.
