I have always understood that we incarcerate people in this country because it is immensely profitable for politicians. If you don't believe that, then you believe in the idea that the concept of incarceration deters criminals, which is patently false. If I had more money I would definitely invest.

don't forget, if you don't like contributing to your state and local chapters you can always invest in Whackyhut, Pinkerton or Halliburton. Did I mention that we might start incarcerating a few hundred thousand illegal immigrants as felons? can you hear the cash cow ring?
