Inreesting. That method of launching a spear was also used by the Australian Aborigines for thousands of years. They called it a 'woomera' and it had a sharpened point set in the end like a barb on a fish hook. this barb fitted into a depression in the butt of the spear to keep it steady and aimed true. The distance that you can throw a spear with one is quite incredible. You can make olympic javelin champions cry.
