Wait, I thought the feds were going after pornsites that make their content available to minors via web searches. They're not actually monitoring what individual people search for, as is implied by the article title, but rather monitoring what sites frequently return content of questionable morality to anyone searching for it.
Whilst I really don't like the idea of my search data being retained on anyones servers, especially if it's being passed on to govenment agencies without question (fuck you very much MSN and Yahoo). I don't think that there's anything to be gained with this kind of sensationalist journalism.
Google should be applauded for putting up a fight to protect the privacy of their users, but i struggle to see why the fuck they're logging our searches in the first place. Please lets not forget that
Google hasn't always acted impeccably when it comes to protecting online privacy, so lets not go licking their balls in gratitude just yet.
