Very interesting stuff, but I think it was somewhat undermined at the end with that 'We'd kill every chimp in the world' speech. The way to get the message across that these people are a bunch of idiotic nutjobs isn't to become a nutjob yourself.

I rescued Fidel and Marie from the Pasadena Humane Society. It blows my mind that people would throw away so many perfectly good creatures.

The LA Animal Shelter is euthanizing tens of thousands of dogs per year (39k 2001, 25k+- 2004), while many other cities are able to deal with the stray animals using methods that reduce the number of animals euthanized. Mayor Villagarosa recently replaced the head of the animal svscs dpt with a dude that did the same job in NYC who quickly thereafter laid out a plan to drastically reduce the number of animals euthanized.

Its really not such a bad goal.
