Here's what we need to do: adopt Canada's voting system. From my understanding, all electoral voting in Canada is done in a novel manner - marking a paper ballot. After polls close, these ballots are then counted by polling station staff. Apparently, though the process is manual, results are tabulated relatively quickly (typically by late in the night on election day or something like that).
Wow, what a revelation. Put tick marks on paper, then count - that even leaves a paper trail. The basis of our entire system of government should be important enough to sacrifice a little speed to make it more reliable and trustworthy. I'm for keeping it simple enough than anyone voting can understand how it works and have confidence in that process.
