So far no one has pointed out that Christmas is closely followed by New Year, which is also a holiday but is NOT CHRISTMAS. So unless you want to spell out every holiday that occurs within the next few weeks, what is the problem with saying 'holidays'?

It's getting to the point where Christians (and conservative opportunists) are demanding their religion be catered to by private commercial entities. 'BOYCOTT LAND'S END CAUSE THEY TOOK THE CHRIST OUT OF MY DECEMBER!'

It's about as arrogant and presumptuous a mistake as demanding (so-called) Intelligent Design be taught in science classes.
