This was submitted before and rejected...and I have no idea why. I used it, and it gave some really great recommendations. Some were shit, but I downloaded probably 10 albums that I might later buy.
The question is, who is providing this service and why? Who gets the money we send them, should we buy the service? Does pandora have an agreement with individual artists, or does it choose what music to sponsor?
It's from the Music Genome Project, and I read a little about it somewhere. They actually have people who rate the individual songs on something like 40 attributes apiece. It seems pretty legit, I obviously am a fan. LastFM is another one like this that's free, but it seemed to not work particularly well when I used it.
Whoa, well done. I know of two similar startups, but I think this one pretty much nails it. I guess the trick was in hiring enough music theorists to develop good characterization metrics (i.e. genes), and, of course, to label all of the 300,000 songs in the archive.
This is the first pornsite I've found in years that I'd actually advertise to swarmers. When you first load it up, it looks just like every crappy scam site out there, except that it's real. It's huge, it's updated constantly, there's no spam, no popups, and no bullshit -- and it's completely free. When you sign up through that link above and respond to the confirmation email, I make a bit of loose change.
See what other swarmers have to say about it. People love this place, so I feel fine about sending you there and am confident you will enjoy boners.
