oh stop it. you really think any time you see the president it isn't staged? there's nothing special at all about this teleconference except that they allowed press access to the setup procedure. and even with all the staging and setup, every once in a while someone gets in a question that embarrasses him and exposes him for the douchefuck that he is. remember not too far back that marine that asked him about armor for humvees?

Barch is right. America has been getting better and better at this since WWI when we seeded movie theaters with government employees who would stand up and express their support for the war effort after a newsreel.

The weird thing is how crappy they've been at this lately. Why is it so obvious and poorly acted? Are we smarter? Are they dumber? Do they underestimate us more? Is it the internet spreading the info?

Even the die hard supporters are starting to doubt...

It might be routine but it's still a chickenshit way to do things. I'd love to see actual soldiers stand up and say what they really think about all this without fear of reprisal.

another point worth mentioning here is that all those 'soldiers' were officers. they weren't grunts and they sure weren't draftees. they were career military. they're in it for the long haul. they're all very conserned about making waves and the inevidible effect of those waves on their careers. there's no way in hell one of them was going to get up to the mic and challenge their commander in chief.
