yes, it is now more than possible to track & blast a missle out of the sky with a laser; we had a MinuteManIII test last night (8/24) from Vandenberg to the Ronald Reagan Nuclear Test Range in the Marshall Islands (3800 miles in 26 minutes) that was successfully shot down. Just another way to say 'Hey, my penis can reach anywhere in the planet, asshole!', like we do a half dozen times a year.
