I'll bet (and at least have fuking currency for my wagering) that those men are NOT firing on unarmed civilians. That isn't what soldiers do. Does it happen sometimes? Sure. But your average grunt on the ground would rather risk his own life by disobeying a direct order to shoot an unarmed, innocent civilian, than to live with the anguish of obeying.

You know that, and I know that. Bullets are not the solution, and the Blackwater guys' excuse that they have to put their kids through college does not cut it for me: the kids will ride to college on the corpses of the Iraqi dead. There's gotta be a better way to earn that money than to submerge yourself in a bath of blood. I know it's dangerous for them too, but the thing is that soldiers have to follow orders, and these guys made a choice. Well in a war where a guy is a civvy one minute then a combatant the next and with the constant fear of an rpg attack or an ied blowing off your legs its a good policy to shoot first and ask questions later. Its the foreigners that are causing the deaths of all these innocent iraqis, the quickest way to get the American troops out of Iraq would have been cooperation. Once the puppet government had been all set and running then 90% of the troops would be gone, our troops dont care about the big picture they kill so they wont be maimed and killed by some idealistic asshole with a bomb strapped to his head.

by outsourcing the development and rebuilding of most of the critical infrastructure, the coalition provisional authority pretty much guaranteed that the army and cops were among the few viable employment options. and at the rate they're getting blown up, i bet the unemployed are just falling over each other to sign up.
