Scientology is a form of unlicensed regression therapy (which, in my opinion, is just a small step away from a crackpot region of legitimate psychology). But to read about L.Ron Hubbard is to see that he was a paranoid schizophrenic who hated psychologists. Why? Because they actually were after him. Shit, if I were a practicing doctor, I'd be after his ass to get him some help.

Psychiatrists really don't know what they're doing, they hand out drugs without knowing how they are going to work and its all a big guessing game. Meanwhile you end up fat and nauseated by all the side effects.
The whole reason this is a story is because the people in the media are saying 'Oh no he didn't just call our dear Matt Lauer glib'. They want you to keep relying on prescription drugs because it keeps the intelligent masses docile, because let's face it, only the ignorant can live blissfully.
I have seen to too many people in my life including myself become worse with medication and it does only mask the problem.
That being said, I still don't like Tom Cruise and think he's a dumbass for other reasons

there's a book out called :We've Had a Hundred Years of Psychotherapy--And the World's Getting Worse

it addresses that issue. people get put in chemical straightjackets. society may be a little better off because some people are now docile, but the patients aren't really being cured. and it's a huge money making industry. it is a really limited enterprise. Leary said he had luck using psychoactive drugs on some patients, these were clinical trials but of course they were stopped. even if he overstated his case, it should be worth looking into.
these doctors never look at the spiritual side of the issue. and depressed people would find more success with alternative therapies.
