The stringed stuff and the drums are pretty good from the few I've seen in person. Plus, i like the idea that many of the obscure ethnic instruments like thumb pianos and three and five stringed bowed cello/sitar hybrids are under 50 bucks. If I gave up two six-packs a week, I could buy a new toy every month.
In our house, we have a lot of guitars, violins, and piano/keyboards. when we have a jam, you can only have so many people on guitar before it becomes horrible. The same with violin or piano. Small, easily learned accent sounds encourage even the musically confused to join in. I like that whole idea.
For years, the only rule we have about getting high is no one is allowed to just sit and vegetate. You have to tell a story, sing, draw, paint, etc. Its how we taught our children not to ABUSE pot, but to use it as an enhancer. Music is a good brain tickler.
