| | | | | | I love war flicks. Ranking the best is a highly subjective excercise, of course, but I wonder how on earth 'Good Morning, Vietnam' (#31) rated higher than 'Lawrence of Arabia' and 'Tora! Tora! Tora!' (#40 and #39, respectively).
Missing from the list is the great submarine thriller 'The Enemy Below' with Amercian destroyer commander Robert Mitchum and U-boat captain Curt Jurgens in a deadly tactical duel on the high seas. (GEEK FACT: This flick was the inspiration for the original Star Trek episode 'Balance of Terror.')
I'd also definitely list 'Gettysburg' among the very best, for its sheer scope, authentic period look and historical accuracy. Especially moving is the savage battle of Little Round Top--with Confederate soldiers vainly charging uphill into curtains of Union gunfire.
| | | | | | | Yeah, Gettysburg should have made the list. And I was surprised that The Bridges at Toko Ri didn't make it. They also missed In Harms Way, Midway and Starship Troopers. | | | |
| | | | | | | 12 o'clock High, Dirty Dozen (go Trini Lopez), Raid on Rommell, Green Berets, Guns of Navarone... | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | | | Starship troopers? In that case, they forgot Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica.
Midway wasn't great, just OK, I thought.
Of the movies I have seen, all the good ones were on the list. I now wish to see The Cruel Sea as I have recently read the book.
Freakmachine N.O.C. fact: Patton came out when I was five, and I saw it six or seven times that summer (I was obsessed.) The only other movie I have ever done that with is Star Wars.
| | | | | | | I didn't see M*A*S*H*. Was it in there? | | | |
| | | | | | | M*A*S*H - Trapper John
'I wish they wouldn't land those things here while we're playing golf.'
| | | | | | | I didn't see '1941'. That should be in the top 10 at the least! | | | |
| | | | | | | Patton rocked, mostly because George C Scott does. Did. Fuk you.
| | | |
| | | | | | | | | | | | Guns of Navarone #14 Big Red 1 #98 Mash #22 Dirty Dozen #27 | | | |
| | | | | | | Starship Troopers? You two are complete and utter fucktards. | | | |
| | | | | | | 'Apocalypse Now' should definately be #1. 'Patton', #44? Who are you kidding? Gotta be top 10. Gettysburg definately should have been included also.
Clearly, their criteria were a bit wonky. For example, I wouldn't consider 'Casablanca' a war movie, per se. Sure, it's set during wartime, the war is the backdrop, but there's not really any battle in it. Dunno, does a war movie need battles in order to be a war movie?

| Sexual Asspussy | This is awesome.
This is the first pornsite I've found in years that I'd actually advertise to swarmers. When you first load it up, it looks just like every crappy scam site out there, except that it's real. It's huge, it's updated constantly, there's no spam, no popups, and no bullshit -- and it's completely free. When you sign up through that link above and respond to the confirmation email, I make a bit of loose change.
See what other swarmers have to say about it. People love this place, so I feel fine about sending you there and am confident you will enjoy boners.
