For those unfamiliar with Real ID, here's a relatively unbiased run-down of it's legislative and practical aspects.

I'm upset that it passed without debate, but I'm even more pissed that lawmakers have slipped another controversial issue into a 'must pass' bill. No wonder people are so disenfranchised.

But the legislation still passed with a 100-0 vote.'

I have not had a driver's license nor ANY id other than my library card for over 15 years. (closer to 20) I live in a small town, the bank knows me by face, as does anywhere I might write a check.

The title on this link is a bit misleading. It should be understood that this was passed as a rider on a budget appropriation 'for the troops'. That the entire senate is cowardly enough to let this slide should be no surprise. It will probably get shot down by the courts anyway, but that's still no excuse for voting for it.

I just emailed all of my state's congressmen, you should do the same. If you want to do the absolute least you can do, then go to your state .gov and email them.
