| | | | | | I can't believe this made it onto the Swarm. A pathetic group of quotes probably taken out of context in the first place. | | | |
| | | | | | | sure
Here
And there's also Google.
A pathetic group of qutoes taken out of context?
The Russkies are finding oil left and right using their 'deep drilling techniques'.
| | | | | | | | | | | | i'd be interested in further discussion of this, except that you followed up the initial wacko link with one from an australian private eye who not only calls peak oil a 'zionist scam', but also thinks that there were no 911 hijackers and that princess diana was murdered. now i'm only interested in getting a pizza fritte and riding the tilt-a-whirl. | | | |
| | | | | | | Well 'wacko' links asside, the fact is that oil is being found all over continent of Asia and well as other parts. You don't see them fretting about Peak Oil. And exactly what isn't a wacko link?
Google: man's best friend
| | | | | | | I think a non-wacko link might be a legitimate news source not written by a man with obvious delusions.
Which is not to say I think that abiotic oil couldn't be true.
| | | | | | | For instance: diamonds can be synthesized, so why not oil? Take vegetation, put it under high pressure, etc. Whoever synthesized oil first would be rich. But it seems that no one has figured that out yet, as far as we know. It seems just as likely that oil has no relation to living things, just as titanium or iron in the earth's crust has no relation.
With that said, my 2-second google search turned up no legitimate-looking links for 'abiotic oil.'
| | | | | | | Peak oil is a fucking scam...if you think that 'fossil fuels' are real, you are mistaken, along with a few American scientists. The rest of the international community thinks otherwise. We are alone once again on this. | | | |
| | | | | | | Ehm... Gasoline (Petrol for the Brits -- that means you Lefen), is still cheaper than Coca-Cola. And you can't go 20 miles on a gallon of Coca-Cola, can you? | | | |
| | | | | | | I could go 20 miles on a gallon of Jolt Cola! But who couldn't? | | | |
| | | | | | | mobile has made synthetic oil for 30 years | | | |
| | | | | | | mineralGod and shweetbox, just what do you have to say to this ?
Are you homeschooled yourselves?
| | | |
| | | | | | | Google is as bad as it is good. Misinformation is easier to find than the real deal.
My uncle is an oilman the specializes in setting up specialty drilling rigs, mostly in remote China and Mongolia. None of them are 'super deep wells' , they are spending extra money to get these drills going because they have to. The reason? The higher ups know what is coming. He also states that the consensus is among the oil companies is to make all the money they can NOW because they industry is not going to be profitable much longer.
| | | | | | | Ghost, that oil has synthetic additives, not the same thing | | | |
| | | | | | | A technical paper by David S. Holland et al., “Eugene Island Block 330 Field—U.S.A. Offshore Louisiana,” published by AAPG, notes that the Eugene Island oils show abundant evidence of long-distance vertical migration. Based on a variety of biomarker and gasoline-range maturity indicators, these oils are estimated to have been generated at depths of 4572 to 4877 m (15,000 to 16,000 ft) at vitrinite reflectance maturities of 0.08 to 1.0% and temperatures of 150 to 170°C (300 to 340°F). Their presence in shallow, thermally immature reservoirs requires significant vertical migration.
Roach, your article is very informative however I fail to see your point.
So you must think OPECs scare tactics and price fixing is ok?
| | | |
| | | | | | | vitrinite reflectance maturities?!?! holy fuk ok jeez!
whether it runs out or not, we should conserve as much as possible and find something else for fuel. the preznit wants more refineries, because hell that's good bidness (hand over fist), and he wants to drill more. great plan.
any ChemE types out there that can guess how fuel cell technology might advance with a few spare billion dollars thrown at it? i also remember reading about some thing that generated power from ocean waves, but that might have been a fever dream.
| | | | | | | I read the article and it sounded like more OPEC trite. Homeschooled?
Anwho you can listen to a radio interview between Alex Jones and Dr. Nick Begich, an author of relevant books, for another viewpoint.
Also Cockroaches article said nothing about the fields in Vietnam, which the Russians helped them with, and seems to me that their is an overall power (energy) struggle emerging. OPEC does not want any competition and can pretty much do what they will with oil prices and will continue to do so.
An article stating that global oil prices will stay high for the next 20 years, released by the IMF link
With all the billions of dollars floating around and this impending 'doom' of peak oil, you would think that everyone would be scrambling for an alternative, but they're not.
From what I understand, if Tesla's work had been supported, we would all be using free and unlimited energy. But really, where is the profit in that, certainly unappealing for our neo-feudalist masters hidden in plain site.
Homeschooling? So what you're saying is that public schooling is far superior? I thought it sucked personally.
| | | | | | | Nah I was just joking about homeschooled kids being weird and spastic and friendless, except for the part where I wasn't joking. | | | |
| | | | | | | I want a Hydrogen fuel cell car. All tricked out just like fast and the furious. :P | | | |
| | | | | | | Here's a novel solution stockpile your shit get some nanobots, make sure you got plenty of intelligent folks in you commune and head for the hills survival shit | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | | |
>forgot the ===== dumbass<
| | | | | | | Ok I bought enough Jolt Cola to last 500 years. Now where do I go again? Beverly hills? | | | |
| | | | | | | Yes, homeschooled. Homeschooled as in the inheritance of ignorance via limited exchange of ideas and critical debate, people that find 'The stone age ended, but not because of any lack or stones. Undoubtedly the oil age will end the same way.' a compelling logical statement in support of dismissing peak oil.
Shweetbox, “if you think that 'fossil fuels' are real”? You are dumb as a fucking stump to make this statement. Not only is the weed in your pipe a fossil fuel (it was alive but now is dead and look at it burn) so is wood, peat, coal and, if you’d understood the text you quoted, oil too. Right in the middle of your quote of my link is: Based on a variety of biomarker and gasoline-range maturity indicators, these oils are estimated to have been generated at depths of 4572 to 4877 m (15,000 to 16,000 ft).! BIOMARKERS come from, guess what, that’s right, bio-matter. So if the deeper source of this unexpected refill in this one oil field contains different, older biomarkers than the stuff that was already pumped out, then there must be sedimentary rock at that lower depth where the refill is coming from too. You’ve unwittingly highlighted a part of the article that shows that the fuel comes from fossils. I dub thee Homeschooled.
mineralGod, I listened to Alex Jones and Dr. Nick Begich. He blathered on and on about all the oil in Alaska. Well, the information source you used to back up your homeschooled link says the US has Proven Oil Reserves of 21.9 billion barrels of which 10.3 billion barrels is technically recoverable in Alaska. However the USA currently consumes (January-October 2004Estimate): 20.4 million barrels a day which means Alaska holds enough oil for Americas current consumption rate for 505 days, rounding up. Meanwhile, Vietnam has only (1/1/05Estimate) 600 million barrels of Proven Oil Reserves or 30 days worth of oil for America.
If the Russkies are finding oil left and right, then how come OPEC … can pretty much do what they will with oil prices and will continue to do so?
Your evidence and logic conflict in a most homeschooled way.
| | | |
| | | | | | | Homeschooling! I love your use of this term. You're trying to play the 'I'm smarter than you game '. I love it.
So homeschoolers are ignorant and inherit the same? But homeschoolers test better than their public counterparts across the board, so in essensence your derragatory use of the word actually reversed itself upon you! Let me guess, you dont' like homeschoolers because a good percentage of them are christian / religious and hating Christians is really the 'IN' thing for 'counterculure' these days isn't it?
You sum up the interview with blathering? Shows you really paid attention to what they were saying. So even though there are presently estimated finite resources we shouldnt' employ them?
Then you talk about Vietnam only having enough oil for us for 30 days. In other words : Vietnam is producing oil, Oil for the US - rofl
'In 1970 the Russians started drilling Kola SG-3, an exploration well which finally reached a staggering world record depth of 40,230 feet. Since then, Russian oil majors including Yukos have quietly drilled more than 310 successful super-deep oil wells, and put them into production. Last Year Russia overtook Saudi Arabia as the world's biggest single oil producer, and is now set to completely dominate global oil production and sales for the next century.'
See theres actually another page on the 'homeschooled' link, which actually turns out to be a government energy information site. Anywho according to this page.
'Non-OPEC countries (countries not members of OPEC - the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) produced 62% of the world's oil (total liquids) in 2003. Since 1970, non-OPEC production as a share of world total oil production reached a high of 71% in 1985 and a low of 48% in 1973, with a 60% average.'
Hmmm non-OPEC countries produced more than the OPEC coutries! Wow it just happens to be a coincidence that OPEC is pushing peak oil, so idiots like yourself will bow down before the prices or start your own self sufficient home, which I doubt you would do.
You're too concerned with proving your 'superior' intellect to ask some very basic questions, like:
Why are oil prices currently so high?
Why can't the Pentagon account to 3 trilion dollars missing, because you know we could put that kind of money to good use: ie, investing into energy alternatives.
Who was Tesla?
You're a robot.
I'm done. | | | |
| | | | | | | You’re not done mineralGod, you’re just running out of ammo. That’s obvious from how little time you spent backing up your position and refuting mine. You’d rather shift this to Tesla or the Pentagon or my use of homeschooled because this geology discussion is out of your league, mineralGod.
Pay attention this time or you’ll never get out of homeschool. I heard your Alex Jones say quite clearly that there were years (and years) worth of oil in Alaska; your other source confirms 10.4 billion barrels. 10.4 billion barrels will not last you years, it will cover the current USA consumption rate of energy for 505 days, a year and a bit. The world uses a billion barrels of oil every eleven and one half days. Alex Jones grossly exaggerated the Alaskan endowment which, while large, must still be considered against current consumption trends. This is not ‘artificial scarcity’ as he claims, look around and do the math. If Proven Oil Reserve counts are a scam/conspiracy it involves millions of people on the inside.
Vietnam/Russia have not hit the mother-load. 600 million barrels in Vietnam is small potatoes, that’s why I converted it into days of US consumption for you, you mental midget. And that’s why Vietnam has not been developed until recently, there were bigger fish to fry. 2003 was the first year since the 1920s that not a single field of 500 million barrels was found somewhere on the globe. Russia with its super deep wells? They found 80 (eight zero) barrels of oil in Kola SG-3, right where the abiotic oil theory said the mother-load should have been, but it wasn’t. They’ve become great producers by drilling more pipes into known deposits, which will drain them even sooner. The ‘super deep’ wells found oil but not abiotic oil from the source or it would be free of biomarkers (see yesterdays lesson).
Ultimately, even if abiotic oil exists somewhere (and it’s an appealing theory but none has been found) we do not yet have the technology to extract enough of it fast enough for Peak Oil to be a non event. To reinforce some of what I’ve said your homework for tonight is to read this.

| Sexual Asspussy | This is awesome.
This is the first pornsite I've found in years that I'd actually advertise to swarmers. When you first load it up, it looks just like every crappy scam site out there, except that it's real. It's huge, it's updated constantly, there's no spam, no popups, and no bullshit -- and it's completely free. When you sign up through that link above and respond to the confirmation email, I make a bit of loose change.
See what other swarmers have to say about it. People love this place, so I feel fine about sending you there and am confident you will enjoy boners.
