You've got a point but wouldn't a stern 'time out' have been just as a effective means of discipline? I've learned the hard way that words often defuse a tense situation more efficiently than handcuffs. ESPECIALLY with black people. The 'urban' culture is more prone to overreact to heavy handled tactics IE handcuffs, tasers, firehoses and guns. We must be sensitive and cater to the 'conditioning of fear' which society has perpetrated on minorities.

in my eyes, the kid deserved the 'scare' the cops gave her because she was acting retarded. the cops didn't use too much force in relation to how she was acting. it would be different if she wasn't hitting the teacher and tearing shit off the walls. but because her mother/parents raised a violent, disruptive child, they will make millions in court. ah, the american way.

It seems too often police resort to manual means of restraint instead of trying to negotiate a non-combative resolution. Putting the 'scare' into kids is all well and good until the 'scare' seed blossoms into 'Fuck The Police' blarring out of their 12-inch speakers while blasting innocent bystanders at a mini-mart flower.
