Whoa, guess they do things A BIT different in Texas. I'm still curious why (a) so many dudes were naked and (b) what was the point of the low-crawl bit? There really isn't anything defensible about any of that. I agree. All bad.

The naked ness is part of the search. I guess they hide drugs under da nut sak. The crawling is to keep better controll of the prisoner during the search. Kinda hard for him to try something if he is crawling on the ground. If he is walking in a split second he can jump a guard. The screaming and stepping on dudes... well 'Only in America'

Screaming is part of the psychology of keeping them in check. Stepping on them is to keep them under control. Kind of reminded me of basic training, only they eventually trusted us with loaded weapons.

The screaming and yelling and even putting hands on them is totally standard. I assure you the naked low crawling is not.. They do hide dope all over, but the supreme court has laid the smackdown on the where and how of stripsearches conducted incustody long before this incident. That was a county jail, as you can tell from the 'sheriff' patches. Generally the only folks with any experience in a jail are the supervisors. I'm thinking they screwed the pooch. Poor or negligent supervision cause I doubt there's any place in the country where those guys were acting within policy.

I've heard stories about Turkish prisons. This doesn't come close.

There are alot of people in jails who shouldn't be.

You know, who gets kept in jail and who does not is often a mystery. There's people who did welfare fraud held over in custody but then there's guys who make meth (19 year exposure and $500,000 bail in the county where I live) who get released on their own recognisance. The only ones who have any pull over it at all are the district attorneys who handle the cases. It sucks.
