and canadians will need a passport to enter US...wow, how did we get here ?

I wonder if we will require you guys to have passports when you enter Canada just to be the same? Though I guess it doesn't matter as you would need it to get back into the states! Wild!

Of course who knows what will happen in 3 years, perhaps by 2008 the US will lock down its borders.

I thought you already needed one to get into the US from Canada. They asked me for mine the last time I was on my way back from Toronto.

Going in they just asked what I was doing, I said, 'I'm here for a couple days to drink Labatts and eat your french fries in gravy' and he waved me on, no passport needed.

When they ask for mine, I tell them I don't have it. They accept my Ontario D.L.

Its about time. I've always used my passport, even when traveling to Canada & Mexico.

I couldn't find my passport last time I was travelling (I know...dumbass) and planning on visiting Canada. One visit to Niagra Falls, Ont. went fine, the other I got a big hassle from a Canadian boarder agent for not having one. She was all full of the 'You know, this IS a different country' attitude. Okay, I suppose so, if it is only U.S. lite plus a little french and anglo stuff. Now, getting back into the US from Canada was so fucking easy and unchecked I could hardly believe it. I wasn't even asked for any ID! And this all took place around August 2003. So, yeah, it really is about time if it helps catch some dodgy fellows (not that I'm one).
