The public story made him look like he was a bullying coward who was trying to run away when someone stood up to him. This story makes it seem more like he was trying to rally his forces in one place in an attempt to win the war. This sounds more like the Saddam we all know and hate. The original propoganda probably did it's job though, and information ( even bullshit information ) is as much a weapon of war as any tank or bomber, if not more so.
