Just a thought on the 8th ammendment, I would think that the practice of setting bail at half a million dollars for some gang-banger from the ghettos, even on a murder charge, could be seen as excessive bail under the constitution. Someone ought to challenge that one day.

yer right, we want gang-bangin murderers back on the streets soon, they always show up for court, so there is no reason for large bail.

You have to live with the system here to understand it DragonStaff. To bail out of jail for half a mil you only really need to come up with 10% or less. Gang bangers and other criminal types usually have enough cash stored away to get out. And then, as often as not, they jump bail and it might take years to catch them again.
